Upton Cheyney – Lansdown – North Stoke 7km Circular Walk

by Amy

Distance 7km, 1.5 – 2hrs, hilly

This easy to follow walk has far reaching countryside views. It’s a popular walk for good reason, big wide paths, great views, hilly but not too steep, detour option around Pipley Wood, quaint English hamlets and pub at the end.

Parking’s easy. There’s a large car park at The Upton Inn. And if you’re organised you can have your Sunday roast ready to take home from the Upton Inn at the end. Winner!

THE WALK

I walked the route clockwise, starting at The Upton Inn. Follow a quiet road that turns into a dirt track and through a field for a few kms up to the golf course. The views either side of the track are incredible.

Skirt around the edge of the golf course and take a detour around Pipley Wood

Pause after you go through the gate the views open up. It’s a great halfway spot for a rest and a drink, there’s even a covered bench to rest weary bones.

Descend towards the pretty village of North Stoke and down a shady gulley to Swineford.

Head down across a few field, through The Swan car park and picnic site, another good spot for a rest. Then back up to Upton Cheyney.

There’s definitely easy ways to lengthen this walk. I’ll be posting a few up shortly, watch this space.
