I have fond memories of a place just like this from my childhood. Hazy summer days spent playing in a stream, balancing on stepping stones and rolling down grassy hills. This is one of those places. Corston has a vast grassy playing field with a small playground with wooden structures and swings. Follow a path that winds down through wild grasses and into the woods and you’ll come to a brook gently meandering through the wilderness. We usually lay a picnic blanket in a shady spot but there’s picnic benches dotted about.

Mine love to paddle in the shallow stream, they splash up and downstream exploring and spotting wildlife. We bumped into friends on a recent trip and they had nets and buckets. The children were thrilled to capture and inspect tiny fish, water boatmen, tadpoles and other water wildlife.

This is one of those hidden gems that’s meticulously maintained by dedicated volunteers and the result is a beautiful and peaceful. A place to treasure. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

The Stream. Perfect for paddling and pond dipping. It’s shallow and shaded, perfect for little ones.
The Playground. Wooden structures for balancing, swings, mini football goals and a swing ball. In the adjacent field there’s bigger football goals, a basketball net and a boules court.
The Walks. Paths take you through the fields alongside the green. Head off into the neighbouring countryside. Here’s a few that you can join nearby.
The Cafe. There’s no cafe or facilities onsite but head to nearby Newton St Loe cafe for lunch or an ice cream.
