Alice Park is a beautiful, 8 acre park, on the eastern side of Bath. It has all plenty to do, perfect for the kids to burn off a bit of steam, a dog walk or a wander with a friend. It has a wonderful community feel with regular events, activity classes for children, sports clubs and a newly installed skatepark.
It’s our local park and we can easily while away a morning mooching in the playground, go a bit crazy on the bike track, then off to the pond to poke a stick in the mud. All rounded off with a picnic under a shady tree with an ice-cream from the cafe.
The Playground. This is a really good sized playground. Perhaps more suited for younger children. It’s got a good range of equipment including –
- a climbing structure with slide, monkey bars and cargo net.
- there’s baby swings, flat seated swings, a full support swing and a double (adult & child) swing.
- a large sandpit with a structure for sand play,
- some rockers
- a table tennis.
The Skate Park. A new skate park has recently opened in Alice Park. It’s popular (even if not officially opened!) and lovely to see the older ones help out the smaller skateboarders.
The Scooter & Bike Track. There’s a mini track for children to ride their bikes and scooters. It has a full circuit with road markings and is on a decent slope. Perfect for little learners.
The Pond. The small trio of ponds are fenced off at the top of the park and great for a bit of pond dipping or spotting dragon flies, insects or tadpoles.
The Cafe. Alice Park Cafe is a small friendly café serving delicious fairtrade coffee, tasty treats and a full breakfast and lunch menu.
The Community Garden. Alice Park Community Garden is a project run by volunteers. It encourages volunteers and visitors to grown their own fruit and vegetables through sharing skills and knowledge which in turn models community resilience and self-sufficiency. The garden consists of raised vegetable beds, fruit trees, a circular social area with log seating, a wildlife pond, access path, wooden benches, a shed, a greenhouse, and a hand-built green oak shelter.
