This wonderful park features a shallow stream running the length of the park. There’s shade from huge mature trees for warm sunny days, plenty of seating and a range of play equipment suitable for both younger and older children.
We love to visit on a warm day and found there’s plenty of space even when it’s busy. Both my children are totally drawn to the water, so much so they’ve only been on the slide and in the sandpit, ignoring everything else. They love transferring sand to water and collecting water to put in the sandpit, having a paddle and splashing. A bucket and spade and change of clothes is essential.
The Stream is a shallow, man made water channel that starts at the top of the playground and runs down a number of waterfalls of varying sizes to the bottom of the playground. It has various challenges for children to use to cross at different sections.
The Play Equipment. There’s a really lovely sandpit with the finest of sand and has a small pirate ship, a crocodile and a digger to fill up and transport sand. There’s also a climbing frames, swings, rockers, a pretty epic slide and a seesaw. At the top of the park there’s plenty of space for a game of football and there’s also table tennis.
The Cafe. There’s no cafe in the park but just a 5 minute walk away Moorfields Road has a number of excellent choices including The Velo Lounge and The Grumpy Baker for your coffee fix. An ice cream van sometimes visits but I’m unsure when.
