My favourite birthday celebration has to be a picnic in the park, however I’ve recently been in search of something exciting for an upcoming birthday and I thought I’d share my findings. So here’s my list of parties with all sorts of activities from woodland exploration and woodwork parties, fudge making, pottery painting or recording your own song. There’s options covering all sorts of ages and activities, outdoors and in. I’ve tried to include details of prices, timings and ages where I can but these are all subject to change of course, so double check the details.

Outdoor Parties

• Creative Roots Woodland Birthday Party Tailored to the groups needs, parties are filled with 2.5 hours of outdoor fun. Activities might include group games, scavenger hunt, den making, whittling, fire -cooking, clay and other seasonal nature crafts. The celebration will end with a special birthday story around the fire. £200 for a 2.5hr party, max of 14 children of all ages.
• Hidden Woods Birthday Parties are located in a beautiful 80 acre broadleaf woodland in Farleigh Wood. Parties follow the Forest School ethos and include a mix of high-energy activities and calmer crafts, giving the event a lovely rhythm and ensuring that guests leave tired and enthused! £240 for a 2.5 hour party for up to 12 children.
• Super Pirates Parties This energetic team come highly recommended having made a name for themselves throughout Bath for their creative entertainment. Choose from 4 fantastic options – A Super Pirate Party, A Nerf Battle Party, A Disco Rave Party or A Festival Party – to suit different ages, or go bespoke. Prices start from £355.
• Swainswick Explorers Parties Explorer Parties – a playful walk in the countryside, navigating beautiful landscapes, build a fire, get the rope swing and hammock set up and probably do some woodworking and craft activities, guided by the children’s interests. £185 for 6 children, £250 for 10 children. Woodwork Parties, are a fabulous dedicated time for kids to create models from wood, cork, wire and all sorts of carefully gathered junk materials to up-cycle and be creative with. Printmaking Parties – coming soon
• The Curious Child offer party hire packages at the beautiful and well-equipped Batheaston New Village Hall.
• Eco Wild offer Woodland Adventure parties for children to experience the fun and wildness of the outdoors with their friends for their special day.

Soft Play Parties

• Bath Leisure Centre Soft Play offer exclusive 1 hour use for a maximum of 30 children for £155. They also offer trampoline parties, pool parties, bowling and VR parties.
• Baskervilles Parties use the soft play equipment, bouncy castle, balancing beams, sensory tent and much more, £95 for up to 12 children aged 3 and under.
• Dragonfly Leisure Centre in Writhlington Party packages include soft play (one of our favourites) but also pool party, Ninja Warrior, lazer tag and a Climbing Centre.
• Ocean Adventures indoor play centre near Cheddar offers a number of different party packages to suit different ages.
• Planet Volt, Radstock Offer three party packages – Sparks, Power Party or Mega Watt Party and you’ll get a combination of soft play & inflatable entry 1 ¼ hours of play, plus 30 mins in a dedicated party room for recharging and party food. Prices start from £11 pp.
• Southside hub mini soft play can be hired for private parties for £50 for 1.5hrs

Active Parties

• Clip & Climb in Bristol. The party package includes 1 hour in Clip’n Climb and then 30 minutes in the party space. It costs £244 for a minimum of 10 plus £22 per extra participant, minimum age 4.
• Brocks Outdoor Adventures in Kelston offer target archery, axe throwing and campfire cooking.
• Funky Monkey Studio run by Alice Milner offers all sorts of parties including aerial hoop, aerial skills, cheerobics, hula hooping and static trapeze.
• Mendip Activity Centre There’s a huge range of activities which can be organised into a party package including tobogganing, abseiling, assault course, bushcraft and Survival Skills.
• Paintball or Pulse Ranger at Hamburger Hill An outdoor pursuits centre offering paintballing, junior quad biking and laser combat games based in 100 acres of woodland, 9 miles outside of Bath.
• Pop Up Play Village book a mobile role play village for your party, choosing from doctors, chefs, artists, vets, builders, adventurers, explorers.
• Trampolining at Bath Leisure Centre. A party package will get you exclusive use of the trampoline park. £250 for one hour long session with a maximum of 30 guests.

• Virtual Reality Party at Bath leisure centre. Active Reality is like Virtual Reality but 10X the immersion. Using VR and advanced motion capture technology you can walk, jump, duck and interact in VR like you would in real life. Compete in epic player vs player battles where the sense of reality is blurred. Private Parties start from £120.
• Live Free Adventures are planning watersports parties at Dundas for kids, contact them for more info.
• Cirque Du Bahe offer circus parties with specialised workshops and freestyle fun sessions.
